BEST DAY EVER!!
We woke up this morning to a ton of new snow and had a hearty breakfast that included eggs, bacon, hash browns, yogurt, pancakes, fruit and toast (no one goes hungry at Auberge). Then we got some exercise in the gym before commencing our humbling adventure to Nord-Bec Stoneham's winter paradise.
Once we arrived, the students went on an exciting dog sled ride, explored the winter flora and even learned some winter survival skills. The dog sledding was quite an adventure and really took our breath away. The students each had the chance to drive their own dog sled and got to see puppies once we were done. This was such a special experience and many remarked that it was the coolest thing they had ever done.
From our dog sled fun, we took a short bus ride to the “Cabane à Sucre” where we learned how maple syrup is produced. Did you know that it takes about 40 gallons of sap to produce 1 gallon of maple syrup?
The students also got to enjoy a traditional Quebec Dinner where they had the opportunity to put maple syrup on every dish!! They were then offered “de la tire” on snow and got the chance to work out their sugar high in an outside disco with music and lights. Quite the day!
